Today is the end of an era. My oldest daughter is spending her last day in middle school. Tonight she will be graduating the eighth grade and becoming a high school. While I am quite sad about this because it is my baby, I am definitely a whole lot of other things too. I am proud that she has become mostly independent. After my weekend away in Southern Maine this past weekend, I realized that she has separation anxiety when I leave her still. Hard to believe that she is fourteen and still cries like a baby when I go away. Of course this is my first trip away from her by myself... Ever... I am proud of the beauty and grace that God has presented in her as she carries on through her schooling career. I am proud of how she has planned out everything for high school and is ready to pursue it in a sensible fashion. I am proud that she is smart and knowledgeable more than books. I'm happy that she has accepted God in her life and is able to share it with others with such ease and understanding. I am happy that she feels so comfortable with our relationship that she can come to me and tell me anything. I'm glad she has an interest in boys and I'm glad that, that is as far as it goes.
She continues to impress me, frustrate me, and love me every day. I am proud she is my daughter. I'm extremely glad that we had her when we did and have made the decisions that we have made throughout her life. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm glad that I haven't had to make excuses as to why my child acts the way she acts. When we decided to have Taitem, it was the best decision we have ever made together. She is our precious child and I'm glad she's growing up good. Congratulations to my beautiful daughter on a job well done. You worked hard and made it through Middle School. We are so proud of you!!
